New Garden •

The area known as the New Garden was formerly an Iris garden. In 2001 it was replanted with wild plants able to withstand the percolation of run off water and being more in harmony with the surrounding English landscape. The complete whole almost disguises the subtle difference existing here between nature and naturalistic gardening. Bordering many shrubs, trees and rich flowering meadows, this small garden attracts proportionally higher concentrations of butterflies and moths than elsewhere on the estate. The chirp of crickets forms the backdrop to Summer visits to this enchanting place.
