Join us for two one-day workshops as we explore the world of herbs, with Claire Hattersley, former Head Gardener at Weleda UK.
What's so special about Calendula? Friday 28th July 2023.
Claire will begin the day by introducing you to Goethe’s scientific approach, and we will perform exact observation of the whole Calendula plant in the beautiful gardens of Waltham Place. Later sessions will allow us to extend our observations through drawing and writing, before finally regrowing the plant in our collective imaginations and drawing conclusions from our observations – what has the plant revealed to us?
A relaxing and enjoyable workshop that will allow you to connect more deeply with the plants in your garden. No need to bring anything with you other than your curiosity!
What's so special about Herbs? Saturday 29th July 2023
Join Claire in the gardens of Waltham Place as we explore some simple ways you can bring the healing power of herbs into your life. Enjoy a morning spent exploring the gardens, identifying medicinal herbs, trees and wildflowers, as well as harvesting Calendula for use in the afternoon session. In the afternoon, Claire will teach us how to process herbs at home: drying, making tinctures, oils, teas etc. Our main focus will be on Calendula and its multitude of uses. Participants will make and take home a healing Calendula oil plus lots of ideas and inspiration for future herbal projects, and a calendula plant for the garden.
Refreshments will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
